Vote on the Proposed 2008-2009 Budget

Proposed Budget Cuts for 2008-2009
The economic situation of the State of California is being felt here at UUCD. Projections call for significant decreases in income for fiscal year 2008-2009 compared to 2007-2008. Without severe budget cuts, a shortfall in excess of $50,000 would exist. Cuts are being recommended across the board.
Staff are hit hardest. The Business Administrator will be reduced to a half time position and lose her benefits. There will be no cost of living increases for the rest of the staff. Full-time staff, including the Senior Minister, will be required to pay 30% of their health, dental and life insurance benefits. There will be a reduction in professional expenses and retirement benefits as well.
This means that some of the staff support, which committees currently enjoy, will not be possible starting very soon.

We encourage everyone to attend one or both of the Budget Forums on May 4 at the 10:15am Congregational Conversation in the library and at 12:15pm in the Meetinghouse.
Line item budgets are available in the Great Hall.
Please also vote at the Annual Meeting at 10am on May 18.

Memorial Weekend Picnic and Campout – All are welcome to a potluck dinner at 6:30pm in Hedges Grove. We will have two BBQs available if you would like to grill something to share (one for meat and one for veggies.) If you'd like to come out before dinner to pitch a tent to sleep in overnight, please do. At dusk we will have a campfire at the Fire Circle – a good time to perfect your 'Smores recipe while we sing camp songs. If you play a guitar or have favorite songs, please bring them! We will have everything cleaned up and packed out after breakfast Monday morning. Just as if we were camping in the wild, we need to leave our campsites and picnic area cleaner than we found them.
This is not a catered event. Please bring whatever you need to eat with, sleep in, or play with; you can bring extra to share. Bring potluck to share for dinner, the campfire, and for breakfast if you stay the night. Please bring your non-disposable plates and utensils and pack them home to be washed.
